There are never enough hours in the day, we work more than ever before in stressful jobs we can’t afford to lose, and we don’t slow down or take time to relax because we can’t afford to.

It takes a toll on our minds and bodies.

Nothing shows this more clearly than non-stop pharmaceutical commercials for sleep aids, depression aids, cholesterol medication, and on and on. There are thousands of preventable diseases and a synthetic treatment for all of them.

Carnegie Mellon University psychology professor, Sheldon Cohen, has been studying stress for three decades. He stated in the previously referenced article for AARP, “We are just beginning to understand the ways that stress influences a wide range of diseases of aging, including heart disease, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, certain types of disability, even early death.”

Our modern world is insanely busy.

Not just with family or traffic or your personal job. For most of us, there’s constant movement and rapid change. Digital connection is massive and instantaneous. It’s possible to see what’s happening to people on the other side of the world as quickly as people living on your street.

The drawback to this is processing tons of information all the time (especially when much of it is negative, frightening, or has an uncertain outcome).

This digital overload (on top of the strain of normal daily life) can lead to incredible stress, exhaustion, anxiety, and depression.

Mixed up in these emotional upheavals is the physical manifestation of inflammation due to increased levels of cortisol (the stress hormone).

Ignoring stress can lead you down a road of serious problems such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, chronic pain, obesity, neurodegenerative disease, and mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

The systemic inflammation caused by Red Mind has a major impact or your quality of life and long-term health by suppressing your immune system (your first line of defense against getting sick).

Is it any wonder that your physical body is convinced you’re under constant attack?

  1. Married a lady with 3 kids in 2000. We had one of our own, now 19 years old. Had a successful HVAC business, started in 1989, till 2008 when Obama took over… Closed in 2011, all health care related premium increases related.
Took another position, same field of work till this day, and will probably never retire… cant afford to.
64 years old now, still fit, but taxes, divorce, daughters college, endless arguments about money and differences in lifestyle and parental responsibilities have driven us apart, for good.
No physical help to clean out 4000 Sq ft. house, needs a good cleaning after 19 years of kids, dogs, parties, wear and tear, and some repairs to unload it in a good, competitive, large house market in our area.
Want some stress………. Ask me about it, this is only a smattering of what’s happening.
If a cortisol level is measurable in a human being, I’d be the poster Boy.
seriously ENLARGED PROSTATE, Tinnitus real bad, eyes, need to wear 1.75 readers, Prostate medication is affecting my plumbing controls, and after paying 26000.00 per year for mandatory healthcare, I have a 3000 deductible that right know I’m unable to afford. Thanks Obama. I am however getting an additional 75.00 per week from President Trumps tax cuts. Thank You President Trump.
