A chunk of a Louisiana man’s nose was bitten off by another bar patron after a drink was spilled in an early-morning bar interaction, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate reports Bryan Thayer visited City Bar on the 3500 block of Veterans Memorial Boulevard after finishing up a shift at the bar he owns, BJ’s Patio Bar and Grill, at around 5 a.m. on Saturday, May 8.

After he got there, Thayer and a friend reportedly bought a drink for another person at the bar, identified as Andrew Nierman. According to the Times-Picayune/Advocate, the drink spilled on Nierman, and Thayer and his friend bought him a new beverage. Nierman reportedly walked away, but then came back and allegedly threatened Thayer.

Thayer told the newspaper, “He grabbed my head and took a chunk out of my nose.”

Nierman allegedly ran out of the bar and into a vehicle when Thayer flagged down a nearby deputy. The deputy chased after Nierman, who reportedly told the deputy, “I was just accosted by him, so I bit him in the face.”

Nierman was arrested on charges of second-degree battery and resisting arrest by refusing to provide identification. He was released on bail the next day.

Thayer underwent surgery to repair his nose and reportedly received 45 stitches.
